Religion in the UK

New to the UK Provides information on religion in the UK for new arrivals to the country, this includes information on where you can find appropriate places of worship and details of religion in the UK.

The UK has historical Christian traditions, however there are followers of many diverse religious beliefs. You are free to practice recognised religions in the UK providing you act within the law and there are different places of worship throughout the county.

For some religions such as Hindu, Muslim and Sikh faiths, there are no fixed places of worship in the County at this time, however there are centres of faith in the nearby towns and cities of Middlesbrough, Bradford, Leeds and Newcastle.

You can find out about places of worship in your area through a public library, through the Yellow Pages telephone directory or via an online search engine such as www.google.co.uk. (link opens a new window)
